Job Overview:
We are looking for a talented and dedicated Electrical or Mechatronics Engineer to join our team. In this role you will have the responsibility of researching and developing a wide range of microfluidic technologies, from medical diagnostic devices to environmental monitoring systems, and collaborate with a team of expert engineers and scientists across nanotechnology, biochemistry, mechatronics, biomedicine, and industrial engineering.
Key responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and implement PCBs and other electromechanical systems for microfluidic devices that improve healthcare and environmental outcomes;
- Develop mechanical fixtures and modules for evaluating the PCBs, electromechanical systems, and microfluidic devices;
- Write and execute preliminary firmware to test and validate the PCBs and electromechanical systems;
- Maintain a clean and organized working environment, and accurate and organized records of experimental data;
- Identify and troubleshoot issues related to the systems and devices in development in a timely manner;
- Analyze, prepare, and present technical reports and documentation for internal team members, external stakeholders, and a structured Quality Management System;
- Ensure compliance with all relevant safety regulations, ethics guidelines, industry standards, and company policies and procedures;
- Support procurement and timely delivery of required equipment and materials;
- Work closely and collaboratively with colleagues to ensure successful completion of projects;
- Stay up-to-date with current advancements and trends in mechatronics engineering.
Requirements and Qualifications:
- Four-year bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical engineering, mechatronics engineering or similar from an accredited Canadian university or international equivalent,
- 1-3 years’ experience working in industry and a portfolio showcasing previous work;
- High proficiency in Fusion 360 for MCAD and ECAD;
- Ability to analyze, understand, and solve problems of varying nature and complexity;
- Ability to work independently and within a team of other professionals;
- High degree of organization, time management, prioritization skills;
- Excellent oral, written, and visual communication skills;
- High degree of accuracy and attention to detail;
- Experience working under a Quality Management System is an asset; and
- Experience in and knowledge of microfluidics is an asset.
